Rombic 35 Degree Cermet Insert VNMG160404-FG Uncoated with High Cutting Speed
Application:
Cermets are excellent for all machining applications where specifications for high surface quality, dimensional stability and tight tolerances must be adhered to. They guarantee long tool life with small to medium chip cross sections and uniform allowances, and are ideal for fine finishing, finishing and rough finishing of steel, sintered metal and ductile cast iron.It has a reinforced structure that provides excellent chipping resistance, reducing the wear on the insert and preventing sudden fracture.
With good high-temperature hardness and oxidation resistance, they are suitable for a wide range of finish and semi-finish turning operations on cast irons, powder metallurgy parts, and steels.
Cermet Grade provide very good thermal shock resistance and mechanical strength, making them suitable for milling and deep grooving operations on carbon and alloy steels.
Cermets are said to be less chemically reactive than carbide, which reduces the tendency for built-up edge and provides improved surface finishes. They also can run wet or dry, reducing coolant costs and enabling metal chips to be more easily recycled, the company says. The insert maintains a flexural strength equivalent to P15 carbide making it capable of a variety of cutting depths and feed rates, including continuous roughing to finishing applications.
Description:
Solid carbide provides better rigidity than high speed steel. It is extremely heat resistant and used for high speed applications on 45steel, cast iron, nonferrous materials, plastics and other tough-to-machine materials.
